
The actress, who married the Allied star in 2014 said that their separation has been "very difficult" for the family but insisted that they were coping.
The 41-year-old, was promoting her latest film First They Killed My Father in Cambodia when she opened up about her divorce.
The mother-of-six appeared downcast and on the brink of tears when asked about her split from Brad as well as being rather reluctant to answer.However, she told the BBC: "It was very difficult. Many people find themselves in this situation.
"My whole family have all been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children."
Angelina went on to add: "We are and forever will be a family and so that is how I am coping.
"I am coping with finding a way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer."She was also reluctant to talk about President Donald Trump, but commented: "The American people are bigger than any president.
"I suppose I have faith in my country and in what it is founded on and the values we hold dear. I believe that many of the things that we're hearing that we feel are based on a sense of spreading fear or hate or dividing people by race or judgement is un-American.
